As part of its new campus on Grant Way, in Isleworth, Sky required a new meeting centre. The communal building, known within the organisation as ‘The Hub,’ is spread over three floors and consists of office space, a café, conference suites, an IT facility, a restaurant and changing rooms.
In June 2013, main contractor Mace appointed Prater to design and construct the complete building envelope package for the new meeting centre in just a 12-month period – and all in situ.
The external envelope package included Schuco curtain walling and Schuco sliding doors, Interpane Ipsaol Glass, Eurobond composite panels and bespoke steel doors, ACM rainscreen panels, louvres, roofing, Radmat hot melt waterproofing, a grid connect solar PV system as well as a gutter walkway system and access ladders.
The project required a collaborative work ethos from the very beginning to ensure its success. The BskyB meeting centre was the first building to be completed within the new Sky campus and highly sustainable – was awarded a BREEAM Excellent rating.
