Recently Quantity Surveyor Hazel Beecroft was invited to speak at Costain’s Supply Chain Conference, where 270 industry delegates were present at the iconic Crystal building at Royal Victoria Dock in London. Read on to hear what Hazel thought about the experience.
“The theme for the day was collaboration and innovation. The message focused on how this style of working allows the supply chain to remain flexible and efficient, which helps us to grow together for mutual benefit so that we can jointly face the ever-changing challenges within our industry.
Representing Prater as one of Costain’s supply partners, I was invited to give a presentation based on a recent collaborative project – the flagship redevelopment project at London Bridge Station, where our site team is working alongside Costain to deliver a broad scope of works - including a bespoke unitised roofing package.
It was a great experience. The venue for the event brought back particular memories for me – as the roof was installed by Prater in what was my very first project as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. It was great to meet so many like-minded people with such a range of experience. Presentations included key case studies, the exploration of what collaboration fundamentally means as well as a fascinating talk on the client’s perspective when it comes to supply chain relationships.
Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships is a key part of Prater’s own business model. I’ve learned through events - including our own Supply Chain Conferences that bringing the supply chain together to discuss issues, reflect on successes and reinforce the need for teamwork is crucial when you want to remain at the top of your game.
I am grateful for the opportunity provided by Costain and Prater, to take part in such a valuable event and look forward to continuing our fantastic working relationship.”
